Get on with the ergonomics
Being in front of a laptop for 8-10 hours a day (yes I have a lot of work to do these days) 6 days a week, will almost certainly rear its ugly head at some point in the future, as severe back pains, neck pains, the works…
So, today I decided to spend 67 EUR on a proper, decent laptop stand. What it will do is raise my MacBook Pro so I don’t sit at my desk and stare down all day, but instead look up and more straight ahead. I researched the market thoroughly before deciding, and the prime winner is:
The mStand from Rain Design
Aesthetically it fits the MacBook Pro like a dream, in good grade aluminum, molded to look like an iMac stand. In other words, this stand will complement my MBP, instead of looking like some cheap crap from the local PC store, which is something I utterly despise (all shiny and fake chrome with nuts and bolts everywhere)… It also acts like a heatsink, and according to reviews I read, it will in all actuality lower the temperature on a MacBook Pro 10-20 degrees. Celcius or fahrenheit? Whatever, everything that will cool down the literally glowing MBP will be a much much welcome addition to my daily life. And I guess the computer will live longer, because it will not deteriorate from heat everyday.
An added bonus of being cool
The added bonus of the MacBook Pro being cool, is that the OS will not regulate to regulate the heat by reducing the CPU power. So, a cooler computer, means a faster computer. Wau!
Coming up next
I look forward to receiving the beast with UPS, probably early next week, and will of course post my first hand experience, right here, on this very very cool blog (pun intended).
